And here is a sneak peek at the rusted fabrics - still wet but beautifully coloured. I must admit that there appears to be a few more things going here in addition to the rust.
The bottom fabric was hand dyed flanelette (navy blue), the top was undyed calico (muslin). This picture shows the top fabric (undyed calico/muslin) but it has taken up the colour from the bottom fabric as well as the rust. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's finished but I'm liking it so far. Next step is to let it sit for another 24 hours and wash gently.
Oh and check out this package - today's mail!! It's a bundle of threads I bought on eBay that were sent from India. Instead of the familiar paper postpac, this was wrapped in bubble wrap and then covered with a calico/muslin bag that was hand-stitched closed! Very ingeniuos - I've kept the bag and might use it in a piece of artwork sometime.
