Postcard Swap

I joined a postcard swap as part of the City and Guilds group that I joined last week. I have some ideas that I've scribbled down and am keen to get home and try them. My motivation is all completely selfish though - I only joined so that I could get one back (there's some very talented people in the group and they're from all over the world but most England).

Anyway was thinking of other uses for postcards and thought that they'd make great Christmas cards - specially if I got the guts to send it 'naked' without an envelope! Of course I would be selective about who I'd send them to, as it's not worth spending the time on something that many people don't appreciate.

It would also be a good small 'saleable' item that could be made pretty quickly (and lots of). Many people have used samples that they'd done and turned into a postcard, others started out afresh. The other thing is that you could make a larger piece of fabric, decorated, painted, stitched etc, and then cut it up into a number of cards.

I'm liking this idea more and more!! (I'm so easily swayed! Last week it was wrapped dolls, this week postcards, what's next?...)

The postcard swap thing sounds interesting, a friend of mine from equador always asks me to bring her postcards whenever I travel to other countries, wonder if they have one in my city, thanks

It's not actually in my country either. It's part of a yahoo group that I belong to (City and Guilds) where most of the participants are in the UK. I'm going to have to allow extra time for postage (will have to look into that) but I'm gonna give it a go anyway. Hopefully I can get some inspiration from the one that I get back!

Esselle,Saw your post on the c and g site and was curios about the Blog spot.
You will really enjoy the postcard swap.
I have learned so much from swapping and the shared info that comes with it.
The snail mail takes about 1 week to get to the U.K.Better than getting a letter from Perth to here.
I am doing City and Guikds with a UK college and have had a ball.
I prefer to do the course as a distance student as I live 80 Klms away from the nearest TAFE.
I have a daughter in East Brunswick in Vic .Where abouts are you? And how do you sign up to the Blog site without having to give a hhttpp thingy.
Regards, Goffy .

Goffy,

Thanks for the comment and the info about the mail - it's quicker than I thought so
that's great.

To get my blog I signed up at www.blogspot.com You can choose a layout from
stuff they have there and then you just start posting stuff. I generally use it as a
means of thinking out loud and to record things I think of whilst I'm at work (you can
send posts to your blog by email so you don't have to log in or anything) I find it's
good fun - and a great thrill when someone comments.
