I joined a postcard swap as part of the City and Guilds group that I joined last week. I have some ideas that I've scribbled down and am keen to get home and try them. My motivation is all completely selfish though - I only joined so that I could get one back (there's some very talented people in the group and they're from all over the world but most England).
Anyway was thinking of other uses for postcards and thought that they'd make great Christmas cards - specially if I got the guts to send it 'naked' without an envelope! Of course I would be selective about who I'd send them to, as it's not worth spending the time on something that many people don't appreciate.
It would also be a good small 'saleable' item that could be made pretty quickly (and lots of). Many people have used samples that they'd done and turned into a postcard, others started out afresh. The other thing is that you could make a larger piece of fabric, decorated, painted, stitched etc, and then cut it up into a number of cards.
I'm liking this idea more and more!! (I'm so easily swayed! Last week it was wrapped dolls, this week postcards, what's next?...)
