Another day in the snow

All these people (and lots more) joined us at Mt Buller yesterday. Despite the people and the flu that I've been battling for the last 2 weeks, it was a good day. It started out sunny and was a pleasant day until about 1pm when the clouds rolled in and the cold with it.

After a tenative start on hard icy snow, I got the hang of it again and the snow softened as everyone ripped it up with skis and snowboards.

We're going to the snow!!!!

B and I are loving the fact that Australia is having a great snow season this year (the best in 14 years according to some) and have been making the most of it. We are going up again on Sunday but here is a picture of me two weekends ago!!!

I love this plant

This an ornamental cabbage (I think). I love the colours!!

What I'm reading now...

Beside my bed at home is...

"The Quilters Book of Design" by Ann Johnston.

Whilst I don't call myself a quilter, I picked up this book because I like Ann's way of looking at the principles of design. There are no 'projects' but there are 'challenges' which is the sort of thing that I'm looking for. I've decided to try and read from cover to cover (which I often don't do) and am finding that I am enjoying it. I do think that rather than just reading, that I should also be 'trying' as I go to really put it to the test.

Ann Johnston also wrote "Colour by Accident" which I have and "Colour by Design" which I want. You can find out more at her web site Ann Johnston

What I'm reading on the train...

A friend gave me this book last week "Blood Ties" by Sam Hayes. In her words "once you start you won't be able to put it down". She was right. I started reading it on Monday and I reckon I'll have it finished by tomorrow. An easy read but very absorbing.

Ok so I've been on (another) blogger break mostly because I've had more computer problems and partly because I have nothing to share (textile that is).

But this weekend I did start something textile! I am making a bag - time for a new one - using this pattern.
Mine is being made in shades of brown. I found this cool fabric at spotlight (brown with black and white leaves) and matched it with some felted-look wools (or maybe they just look like that) in brown, caramel and beige. Anyway, the combination looks good. I'm hoping to have it finished before or on the weekend. I'll try and take a picture and post it when I'm done.
