B and I have been thrust into turmoil - the owners of our rental property have decided to sell 7 months before our lease expires. The real porblem is that they have a buyer who will buy if the place is vacant which means that they need us to get out asap. Soooo we've been frantically searching for somwhere to live. Not that they can throw us out before our lease expires, it's just that this way we get a bit of choice about where we live. Of course the options are limited and the number of people looking is high so it's increasingly depressing to say the least.
Add to that the fact that the computer has died, AGAIN!!! and we are using the dinosaur old PC which takes forever to load up one screen.
I have pictures that I want to share, but without the notebook I can't upload them and so we'll all just have to wait..... Soon.... hopefully.....

Stitch samplers
Here are my samplers for the first 2 weeks of my Joggles online course, Personal Library of Stitches with Sharon at Inaminuteago.
Week 1 - Borders

Week 2 - Points

I started out very controlled and following the stitches to the letter, but then started to add or change parts too. As I did these I had heaps more ideas that I wanted to explore but run out of room. I've written them down and will give them a go sometime.

Melt down.......
The computer that is!!
Yes, on the weekend the dreaded happened... The computer had a melt-down and crashed completely. Seems we had a power surge which made the computer a have "brain-fart" and forget everything it knew!! And in answer to yours and everyone elses questions, NO I DIDN'T HAVE A BACK-UP - Silly, silly Sophie, I know!!!!!!
This happened Saturday evening so B and I spent the weekend without the puter and only the dinasaur PC to get us by, and on Monday morning a very distressed HELP!!! email was sent from work to my puter guy.
Well he came by that afternoon and spent over 3 hours working on it to get it going again./
The diagnosis: The C drive itself was undamaged, BUT all it's files were corrupt (well, enough so that it wouldn't start and couldn't retrieve anything stored on it). The D drive was unaffected and LUCKILY all (with the exception of our emails and some minor stuff) was safe - and YES is NOW BACKED UP!!
As a result we have had to re-install everything, including Windows, and it is taking time to get back to normal. I did also loose all my RSS feeds from which I'd planned to update my links on my blog, so I'm starting from scratch.
I will say however that it was such a pleasure tonight to see so many comments following my weekend absence (it was really only 2 days but felt like forever) and I thank you all for the little boost that it gave me.
And finally in response to some of the comments...
To Mum (aka anon - why aren't you logged in?) - glad you got the bag and that you like it. I did consider keepeing it as I quite liked it too just kidding...
To Felicity - Good to see a fellow class-mate drop by - do you have a blog? could you email or leave a comment with the address please.
To Jo in NZ - Thanks for the feedback on the site viewed in Mozilla - it is now all white, with the exception of the text and a few lines however there SHOULD be a side-bar to the right (has it dropped down below?). I'll have to take a look although to be honest I am a bti clueless about what it might be.
To Clair and everyone else - thank you for your comments about my new look. It's growing on me. I would like to be able to widen the text area, but I suppose that it's set that way for best viewing at smaller screen sizes, so I'll just have to live with it.
Off now to continue installing and reforming the computer - almost there...

A face-lift
Ok, I probably didn't need to state the obvious, I'm pretty sure that you've noticed already, but figured it was time for a new look. I was a bit over the green, and blogger kept telling me about how easy it is with the new blogger to make changes....
Well....
Yes, it is true, setting up a layout with new blogger is easy, BUT... if you've already gone through the whole process, you do end up losing a lot and have to re-set everything. It does save your old template, but by the time I realised I wanted to go back, I'd saved over it and it was too late. Anyway, as luck would have it I had copied the code of the old blog a while back and used that to set things up again - particularly with all the Webrings as you still need to do them in HTML.
So the end result isn't too bad - I think. If you do see any glaring problems, please do let me know - I would appreciate it.
Also you will notice that my links are gone, except for a few that I have re-instated. I was using a blogroll, but since I started to use Internet Explorers RSS feeds, I'd kinda let the blogroll go by the wayside and so it was a bit outta date anyway. I will progressively update the links as soon as I can.

Mum's Bag - FINISHED
I did manage to finish Mum's bag this week and it's in the mail, winging its way up to Central Queensland. Hope you like the real thing Mum - otherwise Shirley in NZ said she'd gladly take it off your hands...
"What are your plans for the weekend?..."
It's that time of the week when my workmates start to ask "what are your plans for the weekend...". It's with this question that I start to think I live a bit of a double life... So many people just don't understand why I'd want to hideaway at home and sew, create, draw etc... so I tell them I'm having a quiet weekend at home.
So for all of you who might be interested, this is what I intend to make of my quiet weekend at home this weekend....
So for all of you who might be interested, this is what I intend to make of my quiet weekend at home this weekend....
- Sunday I have a date with B and the telly! - this is his Sunday off and it's also the first V8 Supercar race for the year - the Clipsal 500. I may also watch a bit on Saturday too 'cause now that Channel 7 have it, we going to get (supposedly) livce coverage, rather than replays at 2am.
- Try to get a haircut. It's been a while and it's getting long (waaaay tooooo long) and time to "CHOP-IT". I haven't made an appointment because I want to try out a different hairdresser - just don't know the name of it to look up and make one - chances are I won't just be able to walk in, but an appointment for next week is fine too!
- Finish at least ONE journal quilt!!!
- Make a start on the Library of Stitches class I'm doing online at Joggles with Sharon from In-a-minute-ago - I'll make the most of our time in front of the telly doing some stitching!
So there you have it - my quiet weekend. Of all of that all that I really mention to others is the V8's, because that's the only bit they'll understand
