This is what B gave to me for Christmas. We bought it today after trying a few different ones on for size.

It's cute and PURPLE, and was half price (new!), but unfortunately means work... yuck :() I bought it with the money Mum and Dad gave to B and I for Christmas - that my my choice, not theirs. The old one did such a bad job that it was almost better to sweep the carpet - picked up more stuff that way.

Christmas dinner, 2005

Christmas 05

Our humble Christmas dinner spread for 2. We got home from my brother's late on Christmas eve and only just caught the shops (B had to sweet talk the girl who was trying to lock the door), but managed to put together a yummy meal of baked fish and salad, followed by christmas pudding with custard and ice-cream.

Mmmm Fish!!!!

B caught it, I cooked it and we both enjoyed it - YUMMMM!!!

Merry Christmas Everybody!!!

I've been offline for a while doing the Christmas thing. I spent the week before Christmas with my family (except my brother who is still overseas) and enjoyed a quiet Christmas day with just B and I. It's the first Christmas that I haven't spent the day with my parents and it was a bit sad to start, but B put in a huge effort to decorate the house and make it all Christmassy and we had an enjoyable, if not lazy day with breakfast at about 11am, lunch at 5ish and dinner consisted of desert at about 7 - oh and chocolate from the time I woke till I went to bed, 'cause it's Christmas and silly things like that are excusable.

Husqvarna hand wind sewing machine

Stash sinday 12/11 - "the most expensive item in my stash".

My brother and I found this hand wind sewing machine at a trash and treasure market one Sunday. I love it but it hasn't been given a proper home in our new house yet.

I was going to take a picture of my Bernina sewing machine but I figure that I make good use of it, so it's a tool-of-trade rather than a stash item - INHO heheh!!!

Time to play!!!

No work tomorrow. I'm having a play day with the girls instead!!! Not sure what's planned but it'll be nice to catch up again and have a chin-wag.

I was supposed to have done a postcard by then, so I'll have to see what I can managed tonight after I get home...

Diamond windows - closeup of biding

I've finally finished my quilt!!!

Thanks to everyone's advice I managed to achieve what I originally wanted and have used the purples to bind it. And I think it works really well if I do say so myself!

The weekend's challenge has been met

My task this weekend was to get the binding made for "Diamond Windows" and attached and possibly start the bag that I've been designing in my head for the past 2 weeks.

I DID IT!!!

I got enthusiastic at about 10pm on Saturday night and managed to make the binding. Moving backwards and forwards between sewing machine, couch and iron, joining all of my purple strips on the bias. So now I have the binding attached and am working my way around with the hand sewing - I've done maybe a quarter this evening.

I also got the bag started and nearly finished. It's nothing special. A sewing/utility bag for a friend. It's got lots of pockets and still needs a strap and some form of closing mechanism. I also need to (somehow) apply a binding to the top and base to neaten it all up. If I can figure that out, I should get it done this week.

I should mention....

Even though I am at work, I really shouldn't complain. I'm in a street that is full of bargain fabric shops, so perhaps I'll finish a little early and go exploring!!!

No creativity today ;(

I've been called in to work today at job number two, so alas no creative play today. Never mind, I'll just have to make up for it tomorrow!!

Thanks to Maureen and Debra I'm now comfortable that I can bind my quilt using the gorgeous purples that make up the diamonds, finishing it off nicely. I hope to get the binding made and attached tomorrow. If I'm really good I might even get started on the hand sewing... Then again, I might get started on the secret bag that I'm making for a friend instead, and leave the hand sewing till next week.
