Talk about procrastination!!!!!!!!

I sat down in the sewing room this weekend iwht every intention of doing some work, but alas I got distracted. Instead of stitching, I ended up sorting through the bottomless piles of fabric in the room and spent the time folding and sorting. I wouldn't say that I achieved nothing however, as I now have neatly folded baskets of hand-dyed fabrics sorted according to colour, and have returned the commercial fabrics to their rightful drawers.

I have it so baaaaaaaad!! I've got postcards to create!!!!

Self-Portraits

The Contemporary Textile Art Group at http://www.flickr.com/is having another exchange.

Guidelines: Make 6 self-portraits (they can be the same or all 6 can be different) using materials and/or techniques that would fall under the “textile” category. These should be postcard sized (5 inches by 7 inches or a little smaller). Self-portrait can be interpreted loosely.

Deadlines: Please get your postcards in the mail by August 9th.

Hmmm.... self-portrait... loose interpretation... postcard size... where do I start?...

Looks like I'll have to give this one some serious thought and start playing. Perhaps that'll be the theme of tonights postcard?...

Promises promises....

My resolve to attempt one postcard a day has fallen by the wayside already!! Admittedly I went out last night, and the previous night I spent catching up on blogs and time ran away from me.

Tonight however I will be starting postcard number 2!! (I really will!! - I promise?...)

I've been a baaaad blogger.

I'm sorry to my few, but ever so important readers who've been loyally checking here for updats and going away disappointed - I have no excuse!

I have been around, quietly reading everyones blogs but haven't commented or blogged myself. Mostly because I now work full-time and in my new job I can't get away with blogging at work. To add to that, winter in my flat is cooooooold (brrrrrrrr)!! and so the warmest place is in front of the telly with the doona and the heater.

Anyway - enough explaining!! I've also been slack on the textile front, but did make this last night. It's postcard size which is workable. I prepped a peice of material, cut it up into about 8 postcard sized pieces (with some extra room for holding) and just started stitching. I thought that if I have a pile there to work on, I might be able to one a night - or at least a couple in a week!! So that means that this week's theme is blue. This one looks like the calm seas that we went snorkelling (B went diving but I'm not qualified so it's the snorkel for me) up at Cairns on the Great Barrier Reef a few weeks ago.
