I went shopping today. I managed to grap a few hours away from work (it should have been my day off anyway) to rush into the sewing centre to stock up a few things. So I got my darning foot which was the priority, and ended up with the normal sized extension table AND the larger quilting table. I really only intended to buy one, but I really liked the size of the quilting table, cause it means that your work doesn't slip off, and the smaller one is far more practical for taking to workshops and normal sewing (although I don't do all that much NORMAL stuff). Anyway, as I was umming and ahhing, and about to say I'll just go with the smaller one at this stage, the lady quickly pipes up with, would taking 20% off help!! HELL YEAH!!!! Needless to say she got her sale and I got my 2 extension tables, a darning foot AND 5 bobbins - still not enough but it's a start. She's also promised to take 20% of any other purchases I decide to make before Christmas - perhaps I'll have another look at the bank balance, and see what else I could REALLY use...

Where's my weekend!!!
I'm a bit possessive of my weekends. They are my time to do all of the things that I day-dream about during the week, and I HATE it when it is taken up with appointments and catching up with people.
I was really looking forward to spening Saturday getting to know my new machine, but I have a hair appointment in the morning (it's a whole family affair with B's family (the girls at least) at a hairdresser who works from home), the I'm meeting a friend who's down from Queensland in the afternoon. Perhaps I should get off this computer and go and play now but... there's another beer waiting for me in the fridge and I don't think it's safe to operate such a machine under the affluence of incohol *hic* - JOKING MUM!!!

I've got it!!!!
I picked up my new machine yesterday evening. I have set it up and plugged it in and had a quick go - it's fantastic. But get this... i was flicking through the manual and they don't refer to it as a sweing machine, thay call it a "sewing computer" *LOL*
I've already made a list of things that I need to get for it - extended sewing table (can't work on the little bar that is there), and a darning/free-machine embroidery foot. Oh and of course more bobbins, how do they expect anyone to be able to cope with 4??

Yes!! I'm still alive!!
Been consumed by work of late and haven't had the time nor inclination to play. We got over a major hurdle today at work though (an audit that'd been looming over our heads for the past 2 months) and so I can see my way clear again. I don't know if I've mentioned it but I handed in my resignation last week and will finish up for good in 3 days - enough time to get things in order and prepare a 'bible' explaining how everything should be done, and to spend a bit of time trainig the bosses wife in how everything works.
That takes me through til Monday afternoon, when my holidays start. I will be frantically looking for a new job (desperately waiting for a call about 1 I applied for last week) but do not feel all that concerned. I have some work through a friend for a few months and hopefully by the time that runs out, I'll have found something else. In the mean time, I'm spend some time creating and playing and enjoying.
Speaking of which I'm still waiting to pick up my new sewing machine. The exhibition ended yesterday and because I've been tied up with work I couldn't get there so now I've got to get some time to duck around to dear friends place and collect my goodies.
That's all for me now - off to B's grandmas to nanna sit tonight. Pity, 'cause a trip to the pub for a celebratory drink is what I would prefer.

I have a brand new sewing machine!!!
I won the raffle!! Well actually B did, cause I wasn't allowed to enter. But I bought the tickets, and what does he want with a sewing machine anyway!!! He did ask the value and I saw the Ebay $$ flashing before his eyes, but there's no way I'm gonna let him do that! Sad part is I won't get it for another week as the exhibition has been extende (at no extra cost) and as Bernina (the makers of the sewing machine) were a major sponsor, the machine stays till the exhibition closes *pouts*
Just think of the bags I could turn out with this little beauty... don't really know what sort it is other than a low end Bernina - but hey, it's new!!!!

Thanks Arlee for this pattern. It's the "Sophie Bag" (named after me!) and is great fun to make (only took me a couple of hours this evening).
You can find this pattern and other great stuff at Arlee's website Albedo Design
Did I get the ruffle right Arlee?? I was thinking that it would sit down, but when I turned it right-side out it stood up and looked good, so I left it.
